Upcoming Classes and Events
June 5th – 9th, 2008: TNNA in Columbus, Ohio
The first weekend in June, I’ll be attending the National Needle Arts Convention in Columbus, but don’t worry - the shop will be open as usual! I’ve signed up for some great classes I hope to teach when I return (one by Kelly Clark and one by Amy Bunger with a Melissa Shirley canvas), and I’ll be shopping up a storm. The goodies will start arriving later this month.
Here’s a preview of some of the fiber news:
We’ll be receiving the entire line (56 colors) of #24 Kreinik Braids which is perfect for stitching Basketweave or Continental on 13/14ct canvas
Rainbow Gallery is releasing new colors in the Silk Lame – this is a wonderful silk fiber with a metallic thread running thru it. It’s so easy to stitch with – we used it on one of the 12 Days of Christmas Nutcrackers – and it looks gorgeous! It’s perfect for Christmas ornaments…They’re also adding colors to other lines, so if we carry the line, you’ll be seeing the new colors shortly.
After a lot of deliberation over where to put them, we’ve decided to bring in the full line of the Crescent Colours Floss. This will happen over the next couple of months, so please bear with us as we move things around!
Many of the designers have sent snippets of their new canvases, but I’m not allowed to tell you about them yet. I can’t wait to see everything in person. Drop by the shop next week, and I’ll have pictures and news to share.
 June 14th: 9:30 - 12:30 – Count Dracula Class
This canvas is the 3rd installment in our Halloween series. He may be small, but he’s got a lot going on – not to mention that our favorite finisher has come up with a way to give him sound effects! If you can’t make it in person, all of our classes are also available as kits.

June 14th – 28th: Kelly Clark Designs Needlepoint Trunk Show
We are so lucky! Kelly is sending this trunk show directly from TNNA – that means we should be getting her newest designs! For a preview of her wonderful canvases, check out Kelly’s website at www.kellyclarkneedlepoint.com. As always, purchase 2 or more canvases and receive 15% off.

June 21st: It’s Hot Outside Stitch-In!
It’s June – need I say more?!? So where better to be than stitching at the shop while
sipping on cool libations? We’ll provide the libations and something to nibble. You bring a project to work on, enjoy the companionship and the air conditioning!
June 28th: 10:00 – ??? - Beginning Punch Needle Class/Punch Needle Group
Punch Needle is a lot of fun and can done by itself or be used as an embellishment on Cross Stitch, Needlepoint or even a pair of jeans! Bob has taught a couple of classes and now we thought it might be fun to have a Punch Needle Group! So bring a project and punch for the day.
If you’ve never done it before, now is the time to learn! You just need to come in early and pick out a pattern, then on Saturday, Bob will show you how it’s done.
June 27th – July 5th: The 5th Annual Take It On Vacation Sales Event!

July 19th: 9:30 – 12:30 – Square Stitch Beading Class
Michelle did an awesome job with the Peyote Beading Class – this one promises to be just as much fun! Plus this method of beading allows you to turn a cross stitch pattern or motif into a beaded bracelet, fob, watch or patch. Now you won’t have to feel bad that you haven’t stitched all those charts in your stash, you can just bead them! Sign up early – enrollment is limited to the first 8 people!

July 26th: 10:00 - ??? Christmas Ornament Saturday
With only 151 days left till Christmas, it’s time to start those Ornaments! I find that I get more done and/or started when I work around others so…. the last Saturday of every month will now be known officially as Christmas Ornament Saturday! Bring those gifts you’re making and work on them! It doesn’t matter if it’s Needlepoint, XS, Knitting, Crocheting or Quilting - all that’s required to join this group is an overly inflated idea of how many gifts you can get done between now and midnight on December 24th! See you there…

August: Susan Roberts Needlepoint Trunk Shows
Dates to be announced… Susan is known for her Nutcrackers, Hot Air Balloons and Christmas Houses. I’m always overwhelmed by her booth at market – there’s just sooo much to see! If you’d like a preview, we have her catalog in the shop. As always, purchase 2 or more canvases and receive 15% off. If you can’t make it to the shop just call or email us your choices!
 August 2nd: 9:30 – 12:30 - Wart Witch Class
She’s so ugly, she’s cute! Miss Witch is 2.75” in diameter and has lots of attitude.

 August 9th: 10:00 - ??? - Needle Orts Stitchopoly Tournament
I’ve been forced to play NFL-opoly and Star Wars-opoly, and regular games of Monopoly that lasted for days, but finally a game for all of us! Stitchopoly!
Come and test your abilities! The tournament starts at 10:00 and goes until we have a winner – don’t worry we’ll be playing the short version! If you can’t make it in person, we’ll designate someone to play for you and send you email updates on your progress. There will be prizes and lots of fun

September 13th: All Day - Orts Saturday
It’s back… The second Saturday of each month during the school year we gather to try out new recipes, eat and stitch – everyone is welcome! As always, bringing food is optional; eating the food, not so much - just try and diet on one of these Saturdays! We’d love to have you join us!

September 12th-15th: TNNA Cash & Carry Market in St. Charles
This is the first year for this market, and we’re excited to be going. It’s going to be similar to Nashville because some of the vendors will let us bring the goodies back home with us! So far the vendors look about 50/50 needlepoint and cross stitch. Pam will be running the shop for us, so be nice to her – it’s going to be hectic!
September 20th: Needle Orts 5th Birthday Celebration!
Wow – five years. It seems like just yesterday…But true to my words of anguish from last year, we will not remodel anything this year – I’m just going to market and throwing a birthday party instead! (Can we say “glutton for punishment”?!?)
Okay, here goes – the doors will open at 9:30, and for one day only, take 15% off everything in the shop! Canvases, charts, fibers, fabric and accessories – we’ll even throw in any special orders placed that day! Don’t miss this celebration!
